Post a reflection of no more than 500 words to your blog in which you reflect on your involvement in the group presentation. What was the collaborative experience like compared with the experiences you've had with other tools? How do you see yourself using presentation software in the future? How do you rate Google Slides as a presentation medium compared to Microsoft Powerpoint or Keynote?
This part of the group assignment went better than the first. Since we
had set up a Google Doc for the Makerspace Equipment, it was an easy transition
to Google Slides. Shared between us from using the Google Doc. It was a do your
section, and then later, we will meet and figure out how we would be presenting
the content. Compared to other things I have used when doing group work at school
or now at work, this was more independent work. It was everyone knows what they
are presenting on also the information if we need to contact each other, it would
be through comments made on the slides or messages through Canvas. When I'm at
work and work with other departments, we use Microsoft Teams and use the chat
to communicate and send files, then meet in person to go over things. This is
we know what we have to do plus we are all busy with other things it will get done.
Using Google Slides instead of PowerPoint is interesting because it is easy to
see who has made comments and when as well as previous versions of the slides
are easy to find. For example, if someone was editing something then accidentally
deleted something, it is easy to back to the previous version and see what was
there and be able to pull that up and not be deleted by accident. I would
use Google Slides more, but I like the ease of PowerPoint since I've used that
one more than anything.
I'm actually the opposite, where I'm more used to PowerPoint but as soon I was introduced to Google slides I just fully transitioned to that one. In general it seems like people gravitate towards Google now. It's nice to have options, though!
